Dylan Coe| Sporting award
Dylan Coe of Netley Abbey is the winner of our £1,000 Sporting Excellence Award for 2025!
Dylan plays American Football/Flag Football for Solent Seahawks, Solent Red Storm, South Coast Spitfires U17 and Great Britain U17. Dylan began playing flag football or non-contact American football, when he was 7. He is now 16 and still playing. He has represented Great Britain in the European Youth Finals in Italy 2023 and Serbia 2024, where his U15 mixed team won silver. He started playing the contact version of the sport in 2023 and is part of the Great Britain U17 squad.
His hard work on and off the field gave him the opportunity to go to trials at colleges that specialise in American football, namely, the NFL Academy in Loughborough and SGS PRiDE College in Bristol. He was the youngest and smallest member of his team when he first started but has since developed into an international athlete. However, he has not forgotten his roots as he still plays for the first team he played for, Solent Red Storm, and is now coaching on the sidelines.
Dylan has been accepted into SGS PRiDE College in Bristol, which means that he will need to live independently away from home. To support himself, he will need to take on a part-time job and will also need to find money for training kit, a bicycle to get into college, and a laptop for his courses.
Therefore, we hope that our grant will help Dylan with the costs of his chosen sport and living away from home. We wish him all the best as he starts his new life in Bristol and we’re certain that he has a very bright future ahead of him.
