Josie Gough| Individual Funding

We have funded Josie Gough from Netley Abbey to help her with the costs of her dancing studies. From an early age, Josie developed a love of all types of dancing, be that ballet, tap, modern or jazz. She is grateful to her parents who have supported her to receive tuition, gain qualifications and experience, in order to progress. While attending Netley Abbey Junior School and The Hamble School, Josie participated in numerous school productions, Rock Challenges and local amateur dramatics performances, developing a love for the stage. One of her most memorable performances was being on stage with the Birmingham Royal Ballet in Swan Lake at the Mayflower Theatre. Her love of performance has led her to move away from home to Essex at the age of just 16 to train at Performers College. She is currently studying Musical Theatre on a Level 6 Trinity Diploma, which is a 3-year course. The course comprises many genres of dance such as contemporary, jazz, tap, ballet, commercial, acting, singing, as well as an academic element. She has a demanding timetable which can stretch from 8am to 8pm with a minimum of 37 hours of dance classes a week. Balancing studies with work has therefore been challenging, she works at a fish and chip shop during college term and full time at Mayfield Café when home to help support herself. Josie’s dream is to secure a musical theatre job, either on a cruise ship or in the West End of London. Therefore, she will need to invest in professional headshots and create a portfolio of high-quality dance and vocal showreels for her CV, which is expensive.

We recently helped Josie to buy some professional dance heels called LaDucas for her auditions. We hope with our support, she can take a step closer to realising her dream and contributing vibrantly to the performing arts industry. We are certain she has a bright future ahead of her.
