Supporting the Education and Development of young people in the Parish of Hound.

The Trust

The purpose of the Trust is to support the education and development of children and young people up to the age of twenty-five years old who are resident in the parish of Hound. Regular grants are made available to Netley Abbey Junior and Infant Schools as well as other community based groups e.g. Scouts, Guides etc. and certain individuals.

The Trustees have decided to introduce the availability of two new annual awards in the form of £1000 grants to worthy applicants. One will be for academic pursuit and excellence, and the other to assist in the quest for sporting excellence.

Hamble Sea Scouts
In recent years Hamble Sea Scouts (6 th Itchen South) have been the very grateful recipients of grants from NABHET. Although the Scout group is based in Hamble at least 25% of the membership live in Netley and Butlocks Heath, with our members ranging in age from 6 to 18. We are fortunate to have an air rifle range at our HQ and NABHET have given two grants for equipment used at the range. We have purchased an air pistol and three Hunter air rifles using the funds; the Hunter rifles are particularly useful as they can be used comfortably by our Cubs Scouts (aged 8 to 10). We have also received a grant to assist with the purchase of items used in our sailing activities – we are afloat every week between May and September and so our maritime equipment is well used every year. One of the major outcomes of the grants is that four of our Explorer Scouts (aged 14 to 18) have just been selected to join the Scout National Air Rifle Squad and we attribute part of this success to the additional air rifle
equipment we have been able to purchase.
